We left the comforts of Dales Gorge to check out Weano Gorge and Hancock Gorge, after doing a class 4 walk the day before we thought that we would try the class 5 walks.

Hancock gorge was first and we descended the two ladders to the gorge floor and then walked along until we came to a narrowing gorge with cliffs on each side to climb or swim in the creek. I climbed the kids and Rosalee all had to eventually swim, this first section complete we entered the Amphitheatre and looked down spider walk and thought should we or not.

Elijah and I went first and although we started climbing along the walls we found it safer and easier to walk through the creek to Kermits pool. I sent Elijah back and all the family came down for an enjoyable swim.

After retracing our steps we had lunch in the car park before taking on Weano gorge and handrail pool. Again it was not so bad as we made our way to the gorge floor a few walks or swims through water and then down a narrowing gorge until we were at the handrail. This is where it got interesting and we assisted all the kids around the slippery corner and then down the ladder to handrail pool.

Again after achieving this we had a swim and Elijah and I scouted out the path to Jade’s pool, but turned back after a while as it got darker and water more chilly.

Returning to the car we were all proud of our achievements and had a very fun day, even if Rosalee was still suffering from a slight case of anxiety.
