I was standing in the Barkly Homestead and looking at the sign that gave the rates for camping I quickly calculated that it would have cost us around $50 to spend the night at the Homestead, thank goodness that I took the couples advice. We all refreshed ourselves at the Homestead and Rosalee purchased a couple of second hand books to keep her going as we headed to Townsville.

We drove and drove or so Rosalee felt as we clocked up a good 400 klms and landed ourselves at a free camp 36 klms west of Mt Isa. There was a number of camp spots further back from the road and we camped in a nice area with a bit of space to enjoy ourselves, the flies were still in abundance, but as we arrived later in the day they quickly disappeared as night came.

The border crossing was uneventful although as I fuelled up at Cammoweal there was an interesting sign on the door, about reminding you to adjust your watch forward.

Passed quite a number of road trains today and Rosalee took some photos, kids have been really good travellers today.
