The decision not to climb Uluru was made several years ago for two main reasons the first and most important was the learning that climbing the rock was upsetting to the local indigenous Anangu people, the second reason was with my ability to fall over flat surfaces, the climb down was fraught with danger.

It is interesting point is that the climb is closed on many days the two days we were at the rock the climb was closed one for possibility of thunderstorms and the second for high wind.

We did the mala walk around a part of the rock it was interesting to see the rock paintings and get close to the rock.

I had earlier in the morning done the sunrise on Uluru and was astonished at the photos showed a change in the colour of the rock, there was bus loads of people and it was hard to get a good spot to take photos. Roslaee and the kids stayed at home for this one.

  1. Hey, we are really enjoying reading your blog. Glad you are having a great time. Just one question – Is Word press really easy to use for your blog?? Greg and Bronwyn

    • Bronwyn,

With no experience on blogs I found wordpress easy to set up and use. The only thing is that it can take some time to upload photos particular with better cameras. Have fun with the countdown is it 8 weeks to go?

We may seeya on the road.
      Cheers

      Shannon
