The views from Mt Wellington were really great and we could see smoke rising from a Hobart suburb that in dicated a fire was burning in the hills. After finding our caravan park and the cadbury factory from the viewing platform we headed back down to Hobart and decided to visit Richmond.
We arrived at Richmond at 4:50pm and I went into the local IGA to get some icecreams and the power just went out, fortunately I had the correct change for the ice creams as there were no eftpos or tils open to provide change. The power was down due to the bushfire had taken down a power pole.
We went to the local park and had our ice creams we wanted to visit the gaol, but as there was no power, the exhibits were not available. It was 35 degrees at 6:00pm so we sat in the shade in the park whilst the kids played and eventually went for a walk down by the river to see the historic bridge.
There was an apple tree growing by the river and the kids all picked apples in between locals walking by.
Richmond is a pretty little village and should not be missed.
